Maypole raising in the pit
The raising of the maypole in the pit is an event everyone should experience. Leksand has Sweden’s tallest maypole, which stands in a central location in the pit. The entire town of Leksand gathers here to cheer on the men as they raise the pole, an event that concludes with singing and dancing around the pole. In 2025, more than 30,000 people took part in the celebration. Read more about the program on the Leksand Municipality website.
Midsummer Celebration 2026
Celebrate Midsummer weekend, June 18–20, 2026, at Sweden’s largest Midsummer festival! Three days filled with live music from some of the Nordic region’s most popular artists, a festive atmosphere, food, bars, and activities for the entire Midsummer crowd. The festival grounds are located at Arenatorget in Leksand. There are two separate areas: a youth area with a 13-year-old age limit that is completely alcohol-free, and the main area with an 18-year-old age limit.
